My Milkshake Brings All The Dolls To The Yard…🎵🎶🎤

Sorry for that musical lapse there…I couldn’t resist.  Why you ask?  Well, this is why!

Yep, the Our Generation Retro “Make A Milkshake” set!  When I saw these on another site, I thought it would be a cute thing to have for the bakery/cafe and I was super excited to actually come across it at a Target store.  (This was a while ago, I haven’t been in a Target in a year, but this item is still available on their website!)

Here are all the parts out of the box, super cute!  I love these little sets, always nice to have a few little extras even if you already have some of the items.  You get the machine, a milkshake (looks like strawberry, yum!), a spoon and a straw dispenser.

So, here’s something interesting, I’m trying to figure out what this circle is for on the top.  I’m wondering if the original thought was to make this so it actually spun the milkshake containers.  Anyone else know if milkshake machines have this on the top or am I right in my suspicion?  It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve come across an Our Generation item with a spot that looked like the original idea was to make it mechanical.

The milkshake tumblers are removable which I was happy about, at first I wasn’t sure they came off.

On the bottom is a recessed spot that hooks over the blue tabs on the machine and you press down.  You do have to be rather careful with these though, they are tight!  When they are inserted, you can spin the tumblers around like you are making a milkshake.

Overall a really cute set with lots of play possibilities.  I can’t wait to do the new and improved bakery/cafe now that they have a shake machine and a soda machine, along with some other goodies I’ve picked up.  If this darned pandemic was just over!!!

  1. Is there a spot on the bottom for a battery or anything? Sounds like that’s supposed to be a spin button…

I thought it was to small for the 18 inchers. Glad you like it!

    • It is a little bit on the small side, but it’s still usable. It’s too big for Barbie, so it’s more like Wellie Wisher size I guess. There is no battery compartment, but the bottom is held in place with screws, so…I’m wondering if maybe they were thinking a windup type thing, do you remember the Barbie appliances they made that worked that way?

  2. I haven’t used a shake machine in a long time. I don’t think there is a button on top. Although, that might be the go button. Put the tumbler on the stick and press go. Some machines make you hold the cup the entire time it blends.

A great find! I think your crew will love using it!

    • I need to see if I can find some for sale online with good pics and see. I really do think it’s something for mechanics that they changed their minds on.
