Review of Our Generation “Pop Pop Popcorn” Set

If you’ve been paying attention to the new Our Generation products, you may have noticed they came out with a really cool theater set.  I’ve seen this set in person, and it’s very cute! But it’s big, and it’s one of those things that for some of us, we have to question if we would use it enough to offset the expense.  And storage.

I was excited to come across this mini set instead!

Once I got it out of the box, I discovered some items I couldn’t see inside–a popcorn ad and some movie themed stickers! Great for someone who might want to make their own movie theater set up.

The reverse side of the poster in French.  OG does this a lot with their items, I guess since they sell a lot of product in Canada as well.

You have to have movie munchies!  Soda (with removable lid), popcorn and a candy bar.  Yum! (Although I’m not sure I’d want the ends of my candy bar hanging out of the package, hmmm…)

The popcorn maker looks very much like the one we have here at our house!

The handle even rotates so you can “dump” the popcorn out of the popper!

Both the drawer and the door open on it as well.  The door was a bit difficult, at first I thought it didn’t open at all, but then I realized there was an actual hinge on it, so I tried again.  It would be a hard thing for a child to open.

A really cute set, I like this much more than the popcorn machine set American Girl came out with a few years ago.  Now the girls have to have a movie night party!  I’m thinking about making some loose “popcorn” out of Styrofoam to put in, I even have a small wooden scoop like the ones they use at the theater!

Doll Sized Finds–Tuesday Morning version!

Anyone else here a fan of the store Tuesday Morning?  I love going there and just checking out some of the fun stuff they have.  You never know what is going to turn up.  I went looking for something specific recently and while I didn’t find that, I found some cool stuff I can use for my dolls!

First I found this lovely small condiment bowl.  I thought it was the perfect size for a doll sized feast, especially handy with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up.  I also thought it would be cute with fruit in it.  Only $1.99 too.

Next I found this cute “world’s smallest” tool set!  I thought it would be a cool thing to have along with another set I have, you can always use more tools!  What is even cooler is it’s an actual set of screwdrivers and a working tape measure.  AT $2.99 I just couldn’t pass it up.  I’ll take the keychain off though.  This would even be a handy little thing for in a purse or a car!

The last thing I found I almost passed up.  Then I decided it needed to come home with me…

Yep, it’s a miniature drone!!  $9.99 is a bit more than I usually like to spend on doll sized finds, but I thought this was just way too perfect to pass up.  I haven’t tried it out just yet, I’ve been working on a bunch of other projects, but I have my fingers crossed.  It’s going to make one really cute photo shoot somewhere down the road.  Keep your eyes peeled…and your fingers crossed!

Have you found anything good in your shopping trips lately?

Coolspring Time!

Yep, it’s that time of year again!  And this time, it’s me, Ryan, reporting about the trip to Coolspring Power Museum.  Yeah, it’s about time one of the guys got to go, isn’t it?  I was super excited, and I had no idea who I was going to meet from the Tea Time With Melody Q group.

Lanie knew all sorts of things about Coolspring, she was a great guide.  She told me about the engines, explained the different areas of the grounds, and told me about the awesome “lunch” we were about to have…

Ice cream!!  The ice cream at Coolspring is made right on the grounds, using small engines to turn the containers instead of having to hand crank.  It was so good!

After that, we wandered around and checked out some of the different buildings and saw all sorts of interesting engines.

The Windy City building is really cool.  They have gas fired lights–which also provide a bit of heat in the building too!

The grounds are very pretty at this time of year!

We headed over to Sudlow Station which is the building that Lanie’s family maintains.  It was really cool, and Lanie told me all sorts of information about it.

Selfie time!

The Friends Exhibition Hall is a neat place with engines…

And food!  Lanie and I checked out the candy. (Of course.)  No Tootsie Rolls this time, Flo was disappointed.

Then it was time to check out The Snow.  It’s the biggest engine on the grounds.  But it’s not the noisiest which surprised me!

More pretty pics!

Lanie was a great tour guide, I learned so much!

We saw so many interesting things too!

Soon it was time for Flo and I to head home.  One last pic of me with Lanie.  I had a great time and I hope I get to see her again.  No…she’s not my girlfriend!  She’s my friend that is a girl.  She’s pretty cool too!
