An Upcoming Milestone

Last week it occurred to me that I had a big milestone coming for the blog soon.  In July, it will be 5 years since I started on this crazy journey!  Wow, did that time fly!  It’s been kind of fun thinking back on some of the moments I’ve experienced since starting this.

I’ve said it before, when I started this, I had absolutely NO idea how it would be received.  I was making craft items that were doll related and thought it would be a great place to share with other doll fanatics.  I didn’t realize there were so many people into 18 inch dolls, particularly those out of the specific demographic these dolls are aimed at.  As a result, I’ve met some wonderful, awesome folks and made some truly special friendships.

Back in 2014, I set a goal for myself with this venture.  I would write until either A) I ran out of storage space or B) 5 years elapsed.  When I reached either of those milestones, I would have to figure out what direction to go next.  Due to some very good strategic planning, I haven’t run out of space, and now 5 years has almost passed.  I realized I needed to make some sort of decision here.

Life does change, and I am WAY busier now with new ventures than I was when I started.  BUT, my love of my dolls has not gone away.  I’m maybe not as into it as I was, but I have moments of inspiration and I’ll be honest, whenever I walk past Mimi’s room set, I smile every single time.  I’m definitely not ready to hang up my blogging chops at this point.

I mentioned not too long ago that I am going to get rid of some stuff in my collection that isn’t being used.  I already gave a box of stuff to a fellow photographer/doll fan and I’ve also discovered that the daughter of a friend has recently gotten into 18 inch dolls, so she will be the recipient of some of the other items as well.  A few items may go up for sale.  I really want to streamline what I have for more efficient blogging/photography shoots as well as free up some space.  Hopefully as I continue to go through some of this stuff it will also inspire some new ideas for posts.

Thank you everyone for sitting tight during the ups and downs.  The doll blogging community has undergone a lot of changes over the past year with quite a few people deciding to quit.  I’m going nowhere for the moment, you’re stuck with me!  It might not be as often as it has been in the past, but please, keep checking back, I haven’t given up.  Should I ever decide to, I will be sure to make an official announcement.

Debating on doing some sort of giveaway to celebrate the 5 years as well, so be sure to keep an eye out for that as well!!

Do you have a favorite post I’ve done on here?  Or several favorites?  I would love to hear which ones in the comments, I have an idea of something I could do with the favorites!

Thanks again for all the support!  Could not have done it without all of you who come here to read and comment. (well, I could have, but it would have been pretty boring LOL)

  1. Let me know what you’re selling if you want a “pre-sale” lol.

    Congrats on FIVE YEARS!

  2. Oh my goodness, congratulations! Five years is absolutely amazing!

I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog, as well as reading your comments on my blog. Your fun find posts are always my favorites!

I hope you continue blogging for quite a while—as long as it’s fun, of course. Congratulations again. 🎉

  3. Five years is awesome! not even the tip of the ice berg. 🙂 I hope you do keep exploring the possibilities with the dolls. I have so many favorite posts. Of course, in that number is the ones we’ve done together. 😀 ❤

    I always enjoy your posts.

    • I still have a number of ideas floating around. And yes, some of the ones we’ve done together have been my favorites too. My favorite memory is the cute UPS guy…

  4. I love all your posts too! I laughed sooo hard with those Ebay ones! Congrats and so glad you’ll continue. I love your reviews too.

    • Thanks! Those Ebay ones are some of my favorites as well, I don’t think I’ve laughed that much while writing something before or since!

  5. Haha, yeah, the eBay ones were a hoot, but I always loved seeing you showcase your collection. Your doll stories were always creative and any time you showed glimpses of the doll rooms I’ve always enjoyed them. I think my favorite posts were when you got a new doll and and introduced it on the blog! I think I am right around the 5 year mark as well (well this July, I believe) and it’s crazy to think how fast that went. Little Button was 2 when I started and she’s going to be 7 this summer so that really makes me see how quickly life has gone.
I’m also SO MUCH BUSIER than I was when I started, but my love of dolls also hasn’t faded. If anything, I just feel a frustration that I don’t have time to blog or finish all the ideas I originally had. I have a feeling that the doll blogging community will slowly, over time grow smaller and smaller, but I hope there will always be some of us that prefer this over IG (even though it’s easier to share quick snippets that way.) I’ve also always enjoyed the nice comments you leave on my blog as well. 🙂 Happy 5 years!!

    • I know what you mean, too many projects, far too little time!! I have so many ideas, but need a week of doing absolutely nothing of doll stuff to even get a few of them done.
