It’s Mini Gabby!!!

I have a couple of the mini dolls and really had no plans to buy anymore of them.  And then I saw mini Gabriela and I just had to have her, she is so cute!!!

I love how detailed her outfit is.

And look at those curls!!!!  Hers are a little bit squished from being in the box, but I’m sure they will pop back in no time.

And of course, she comes with a mini book.  I love how American Girl does these to go with the mini dolls, they are such a nice touch.  (although you’d need a microscope to actually read them!)

Who does she belong to here?  Well, Marie-Grace fell in love with her instantly since she reminds her so much of her friend Cecile!

Now the girls have a new member for the doll club!  They are in the process of organizing their first official meeting, hopefully it will be soon.

Review of Our Generation Magic Tricks Set

Our Generation introduced a bunch of new outfits recently and after I checked them out, there was one I just had to have:

I was super excited about it because in Louisa’s introduction, she revealed that she loves magic and that she is a huge fan of Penn and Teller.  I was even more impressed with the fact that it didn’t take me all that long to find it in store.

This set retails for $17.99 and it happened to be on sale for $14.99.  There are some nice pieces in this set and I was happy to see that it didn’t have any of the weird color combos that Our Generation seems to be notorious for. 😉

The only thing I’m not so sure about are those tights, but for a magician’s outfit, I guess anything kind of goes.

The accessories are very cute.  The deck of cards is real too, not just an empty box!  I do wish they had put some sort of handle on the magic wand though.  And that hat…wow!  It is fantastic.  When Louisa isn’t using it for her magic tricks, I can see one of the horse crazy girls wearing it for a fancy dress riding competition!

Since Louisa is the intended recipient of this outfit, I only thought it appropriate that she try it out first.  We did encounter a bit of a problem.

With the tights on, the shoes aren’t going on, no way, no how.  You might fare better with an Our Generation doll, but there’s another problem with the shoes.

The bottoms have a weird curve to them, so it makes it extremely difficult to get the doll to stand.  It’s a shame because the shoes are really very cute.  😦

The top and skirt are very cute.  The fit on them is good too.  As you can see, Louisa is posing in bare feet because she didn’t want to worry about falling over!  The hat also fits well too, Louisa even had one of those braided headbands in her hair.

“Ladies and Gentlemen!  I, the amazing Louisa will make a rabbit appear in this hat on my head!  I will tap my magic wand and…voila!”

“Wait a second…where is that darned rabbit????  I guess I need to practice more!”

I give this set a B+, taking off points for the weird shoes.  Still a cute set though and worth picking up for the magician in your dollhouse!

“Now who’s really the magician?!”

She has a name!!

Someone recently asked me if I’d ever decided on a name for my Create Your Own American Girl doll.  It was a tough choice, but I had several different ones that stood out.  One was fairly high on the list, but after a comment a friend made, it finally became her name.

So, officially introducing:

Mackenzie!  Her whole name is Mackenzie Leigh Hett.  Her family calls her “Mimi” because she looks just like her mom and they joke that she’s her “Mini Me”.  Her friends call her Kenzie, but she answers to both!

I’m sure you are wondering how I came up with her name.  I’ve always liked the name Mackenzie and it was high in the running for what I would finally pick.  Then Xyra (from Tea Time With Melody Q) suggested Mimi since it kind of fit the whole mini-me type theme, and I thought it would work well with Mackenzie as far as a story.  I’m also a fan of NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles, and I liked the shortened version of Kenzie.  It all fits because I actually go by three different names myself and since she is supposed to be me in a way, it all works!  I thought Leigh worked well with Mackenzie and I know many people with that as their middle name.

Her last name is in memory of a young man killed in the Manchester UK bombing last year.  Martyn Hett was a vibrant young man in his 20’s who was at the Arianna Grande concert when a terrorist set off a bomb in the arena, killing multiple people.  I remember in the hours after the bombing, family of people who were missing posting photos of their loved ones all over Twitter in hopes of finding them.  Martyn’s photo hit home for me because he was a member of the Coronation Street fandom that I’m very involved in, and when we all learned the truth that he had been killed, it was a horrible moment.  Martyn’s sense of humor and love of Coronation Street will always be remembered.  Just to give you an idea of the impact his death had on fans, the cast and creators of the show, a bench in Martyn’s memory is actually now on the set.  You can read about it here: https://coronationstreetupdates.blogspot.com/2018/03/corries-memorial-bench-to-martyn-hett.html

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we recently went on a big adventure and Mimi got to go along with us. Stay tuned for photos and stories soon!
