The Science Fair Surprise

Every year at Kennedy the Saturday Science Club hosts a science fair.  Unlike most, it’s not a competition, but more of an opportunity for the kids to show what they’ve learned through the year and share it with the other students.  Everyone was busy getting their displays together, and they all did a great job.

Zara and Christine decided to do theirs about chemistry and how you have to be very careful not to mix the wrong things together.  They even talked about how you have to be careful with household chemicals.  They did a couple of different experiments throughout the day.

Josh did a different kind of chemistry.  He showed how you could use basic household items to make your very own volcano!!  It was pretty cool when he got it to “erupt”–but I doubt it was much fun to clean up.

Cassandra decided to concentrate on biology.  She talked with students about a variety of subjects and showed them where their different internal organs are.  She also talked about DNA and how it contains all the information that makes us who we are.

Ryan and Shivan are both fans of astronomy so they decided to bring Ryan’s telescope and show the kids how it works.  Shivan worked with the kids while Ryan talked about the planets, stars and the various constellations.  It was all very interesting and they both knew a lot about the subject.

Everyone did a great job with their displays, but one in particular really caught everyone’s attention–Abby’s.  She decided to talk about forensic science.  And she did it up in style by dressing up as everyone’s favorite forensic scientist–Abby from NCIS!!!  She had a lot of fun with it and set up microscopes so that people could look at different things through them–a strand of hair, a footprint, a fingernail, and a finger print were just some of the things she had them look at.  Her display was the hit of the whole science fair!

I think everyone had a wonderful time and they learned something in the process!

Thank you to Maggie from If Dolls Could Dream for making Abby’s awesome lab jacket, it was perfect!  She made the skirt too.  And check out the boots, I found those on Etsy, they are by American Fashion World.   Abby Sciuto has always been one of my favorite characters, I was very sad to hear that Pauley Perrette was going to leave at the end of the most recent season.  It won’t be the same without her.

  1. I love the safety goggles. They look so authentic! One year my son’s high school had a Physics Olympics. The kids had to construct something out of everyday items to demonstrate a physics principle. My son made a trombone out of PVC pipe. The crazy thing actually worked!

  2. Spot On ET, you hit the Mark again.
Loved the science fair concept, you are going to have to outdo yourself to come up with anything better than this science fair post. I loved ABBY, she is probably the most popular character on NCIS. I was saddened to hear that she was leaving after this season. I saw an interview with her, and she said she needed to move on, but would miss doing the series.

    • I’m sure I’ll come up with something. This was actually 2 years in the works!! I guess her last episodes are coming up soon. 😦

  3. This was fun to read and see the photos. I just started collecting dolls back in January, mainly the 18″ ones, like OG, JG, My Life, etc. (no AG ones yet). Now it seems every orphan doll that I meet becomes a part of my doll family. LOL I came across this post while looking at another one, and I’m glad I did. Love it that there are other doll lovers out there! 🙂

    • Welcome!! There are plenty of doll lovers out there, especially in the 18″ category. Be sure to check out the list of blogs I enjoy, you are sure to find some other like minded people!

    • Thanks! I had a lot of fun thinking of what I could do. I especially loved coming up with Abby’s outfit!

  4. Fabulous post! Forgive me for being so far behind.

Love all the displays and especially Abby’s set up! She looks perfect as Abs too!

Speaking of which, tears just streamed down my cheeks last week. I was prepared for them to kill her off, but somehow this was worse. No sobs, just silent water works.
