Doll Sized Finds…ummmm…

Hello everybody!  This doll sized finds is actually kind of embarrassing.  Why you ask?  Well, it’s all made up of stuff I had in my possession and forgot about.  Yeah, that’s right.  And to make matters worse, some of these were things I’d been wondering what happened to.  Did I give them away?  Donate?  Throw out?  So you can imagine my surprise (and embarrassment) when I decided to go through some boxes of stuff that had just been sitting from when we moved 7, almost 8 years ago and found a couple of things.  Ooops.

I do have to say though, I was kind of relived to find some of these items as they had crossed my mind as being perfect for in the doll house.  Two of the items I’d completely forgotten, so those were pleasant surprises.  Are you ready to see????

First up is this iron and resting plate, made of I believe cast iron (how appropriate).  I’ve had this since I was a kid, and I have no idea where it originated from, but it was in among some Barbie stuff at one point.  I always thought it was a bit big for Barbie though.  It is perfect for 18 inch dolls, and I think it would be really cool to use in a scene with Kit or maybe even Samantha or Rebecca.

Next is another item that was in with Barbie stuff and was also too big, and I was more than excited to find:

Another item I’ve had for forever!  I remembered this a while ago, but wasn’t sure where it had been stashed, so I was very happy to come across it.  It is the perfect scale too!

This next item…I’d kind of forgotten about it until Lu over at The Red Head’s Blog  (I think it was her) showed a similar set, and I quite honestly thought I’d gotten rid of this!

It was a souvenir from a trip to Mt. Vernon many, many years ago.  I can’t believe it even still had the instructions in it!  About now Evil Twin is probably giggling, remembering the trip and the carnage incurred later on involving a miniature brass cannon and bloodshed.  I won’t go into details, but it’s a memory that has lingered on in our family for years.  😉

Now for the two items I found that were a complete surprise.  One I did remember buying but the other–no clue.  Maybe I didn’t, perhaps someone gave it to me, but both were great finds!

Isn’t this little finger puppet adorable?  And he fits nicely on a doll hand.  Between this, the Phil puppet and the ones I got from IKEA, I’m thinking maybe someone needs to have a puppet show???

And this:

It’s a Build A Bear “Pet”, and it’s the perfect scale to be a golden retriever puppy for an 18 inch doll!  I’ve probably had this at least 10 years, I’m sure I picked it up back when we actually had a living golden retriever at our house.

This edition of doll sized finds isn’t all stuff I found in my house.  I did actually venture out to TJ Maxx one day and came across these mini Lindt bunnies!  I think they would be perfect in little doll sized Easter baskets, don’t you? I love when I can find actual candy items that work for doll shoots, then you can eat them after and don’t have to worry about storing them.

I also had a trip to Pittsburgh one day to pick up a camera lens and I decided to stop by one of my favorite places, Red White and Blue.  I found a bag with this doll furniture in it for a whopping $5, and the bonus doll was in it too.

The chair is different, I wonder if there was a second one and it got smashed.  The table did have a slight damaged spot, but I’m thinking if I just wrap it with white duct tape, it will be just fine.

Anyone have any idea who she is??  I am not familiar enough with this line of dolls, but I figure one of my readers has to be!  I was surprised at what great condition her hair was in, this is what she looked like straight out of the bag!

I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do with her just yet.  For now she’s just hanging around on the chair.  😉

There you have it folks, this months edition of doll sized finds.  And I didn’t even have to venture out for most of it.  Have you found anything good in your travels lately?

  1. The doll is a Monster High doll – I think she might be Draculara. The furniture looks a bit big for her. Do you think it would fit Wellie Wisher sized dolls?

    • The furniture is sized for 18 inch dolls. I bought the bag for the furniture, she was just an added bonus. Not sure what I’m going to do with her at this point though.

  2. The chocolate bunnies are the perfect size for 18 inch dolls. Sadly, mine have never lasted long enough to get in an Easter basket…but you can carefully remove the wrappers and restuff them with modeling clay (if you use air dry, you can mold it in the wrapper to just get the right shape and let it dry very slowly in the foil).

      • I found Ghiradelli milk chocolate bunnies at Target. 2 in one of those little bags for $1. Just opened it this morning and realized they are perfectly doll sized. Ate one and tucked the other away for a shoot later. 🙂

  3. Yes the doll is Draculaura from the Monster High line. My daughter loves these dolls. I sometimes sew for them, that’s a project and a half!! LOL! Anyway, I love all of your old but new doll finds!! I especially love that little iron! How cute is that!?!

    • I hear you, my mom used to make Barbie clothes. I much prefer sewing for 18 inch dolls! I wish I could remember where that little iron came from, I’ve had it for as long as I can remember.

  4. Late to the party! Yes, yes, Monster high Draculara! I love those dolls and the cartoons! Ghoulia is one of my favorites! I have an idea what you could do with her…or where you could send her. :-O

Great finds! You should bring the game board to Coolspring – the girls could play.
