Review of My Life As Egg Chair

My Life As never ceases to amaze me with the new items they keep coming out with, and the Egg Chair is no exception!  I wasn’t really planning on buying it, but one day while buying Christmas presents at my local Walmart, I noticed they only had one.  Hmmm…and it was marked down to $10!!!  Regular retail on this is $19.94, not sure why it was already marked down, but at that price, how could I say no?!

I thought the egg chair that American Girl came out with for Julie was very cute, but $100…uh, no.  Lucky for me, I still have $90 in my pocket to spend on something else!  And no biggie that it doesn’t have a stool, easy enough to make from an empty peanut can.  And I could care less about being able to play music through it, that’s what I have a bluetooth speaker for.

The packaging on mine was a little dinged up, but not horrible.  I’m wondering if it was marked down because they didn’t actually sell this item at my Walmart (despite being a Super Walmart).  They didn’t sell ANY of the special items that came out over the holiday at ours which was massively disappointing.  So much for SUPER.

It came out of the package super easy–there were two vinyl straps holding it in place and then I had to cut off the plastic things that held the sticker sheet in place.  Easy peasy.  I haven’t decided if I’m going to put the stickers on it or not.

I like that there is this grip type thing to hold the cushion in place so it doesn’t fall out of the chair.  I’m not sure if you can actually get the cushion out or not though, I didn’t mess around with it enough to find out.

Cassandra spotted it immediately! She begged me to let her try it out.

Perfect fit!!  She begged me to let her put it in her room, but I’m not sure it’s going to fit.  I told her we’d have to see.  She might have to give up something.

It even spins!

I rate this item an A+++!  Hopefully there are still some of them floating around out there somewhere, I noticed when I checked the Walmart website, they were showing as sold out.  My Life As is doing such a fantastic job with their new releases, I can’t wait to see what else they come up with!

Mad About Plaid

I don’t know about you, but when the weather turns cool, I immediately think of plaid clothing, especially wool skirts and blazers.  I remember when I was in school, plaid skirts were all the rage and to me, they will always be a classic.  Naturally, my clothing tastes tend to spill over into my doll wardrobe, and I thought it would be fun to do a post about one of my favorite things–plaid!!!

Here are Abby, Marie-Grace and Louisa all decked out in red for Valentine’s day!

I think they look so cute in these outfits.  Here are closeups of the skirts:

Louisa’s skirt was made by Maggie from If Dolls Could Dream.  I love the pleats!!  (It’s actually for something else I have coming up, stay tuned!)  Marie-Grace’s skirt was a gift from Xyra and Abby’s skirt I made myself.  I made it as a holiday type outfit to go with a black shirt originally, but I thought it went well with this sweater too.

Next up we have Jenny and Lanie!

Both of these girls have a bit of a preppy vibe going with their outfits.  I made both of these skirts as well as Jenny’s scarf.

Jenny looks ready for St. Patrick’s Day!

Here is Christine in an outfit that I purchased off Etsy back in 2014.  In fact, I think it was the first doll item I ever purchased off Etsy!!

I like that the skirt is attached to the top, it makes everything lay very nice, no bumps or things sticking out.  I liked the coat so much I tracked down the pattern so I can eventually sew some more of them.

Last, but certainly not least, we have Alya.  This outfit is definitely something you would see me wearing, I love my oversized Aran sweater!!!!

I have several sweaters from Ireland, but my cream colored Aran is by far my favorite.  Irish wool is so soft and warm, there is nothing quite like it.  Alya agrees!

Are you a fan of plaid?  I have a number of plaid dresses in the doll collection too, but I thought it would be fun just to focus on skirts for this post.  Interestingly enough, at the moment–I have no plaid in my own closet!!!!!!  I think I may need to fix that…
